I feel like this is a spit in the face to the name of figurative sculpture, but I don't see very many sand sculptures on DA, so... why not.
was at the beach today and made a sand sculpture for the first time in... years and years. my friend was digging that hole (if you want an idea of the size of this, he could sit rather comfortably in it and be a foot below the ground) and I had a lot of extra sand to work with. so I made a furrecat. sorta. it was keen. I didn't notice when I took this picture (which was with a camera phone by the way, I didn't think to bring a camera) that he's a little chipped in a couple spots, but otherwise.... yeah, just thought this would be a fun sort of summer thing to see. maybe encourage some people to get out there and sculpt stupid things like this! was a lot of fun regardless.

Woah. Awesome use of... sand. o_o What beach were you at, just out of curiosity? My beach lacks good building sand, really... but I'm intrigued, at least trying to build stuff was always fun as a kid.
(Your furrekitty is adorable, though- he looks like he's trying to get a tan. )
