Description

eh, I can't think of a title. umm. be warned that this description is gonna be long 'cause I've got a lot to say. ;P

this is really my first shot at sequential art in a comic page format in about... three years or something. I'm not a comic artist but I wanted to give it a shot at least once... *perhaps been reading too many comics lately*

what's going on here: This is a snippet from a scene that I wrote of Tai's story, Amount to Nothing... chapter 12 I think... this is one of my favorite scenes and I felt the dialogue was concise enough and the scene clear enough that it could stand alone with just one page. -basically-... Cale and Tai grew up together... until they were 14 and Tai was sold into slavery... so the two haven't seen each other for four years by the time this scene takes place. Cale's missed a really important part of Tai's life, obviously... the Tai he knew is long gone. it's awkward for Cale because he wants things to be just like they were and they just... can't be... so he's trying to get Tai to talk to him about a sensitive subject, like close friends can. Cale already knows sort of what happened to Melody... he just wants Tai to talk. that isn't really a subject Tai wants to discuss.... he spends most of his time trying -not- to think about her. aww. the angst.

I took a little bit of artistic liberty on my own writing (haha XD) in order to do this sort of lighting/color scheme that I had in mind, and some of the poses... this is definitely nowhere near perfect, I messed up a bit of everything... but I still kinda like it. *shrugs*

The purples were a good choice. They fit the mood with their cold highlights and dark shadows. The page is a bit dark and details hard to make out on my monitor, but that could just be due to my settings.

The lower left panel with Tai is my favorite. It's something about the combination of his expression and the tones that make it powerful; it could stand on its own as an image.
